Future circular economy in the plastics industry; a green process for the purification of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) and the reuse of an organic solvent

The goal of this project is to establish a sustainable and economically defensible process for producing 5-HMF – a highly valuable platform chemical that can increase utilization and value in industrial by-products and agricultural waste. This leads to more environmentally conscious industries and societies.
