Most music, even fantastic gems, is left un-played, and is thus unknown to both musicians and audiences. This is particularly true of our Swedish music. The Royal Academy of Music’s unique initiative “Live Musical Heritage” aims to make available the hidden treasures of significant Swedish art music which today is very difficult to obtain and which is often in a deplorable physical condition (decaying paper, fading ink, etc.). This has meant that older Swedish music is not common today, bordering on non-existent, in the live repertoire in Sweden. Malmö Academy of Music is now planning as part of the subject Musical Performance to offer both a basic and an advanced course.
