The glymphatic system is fundamental to the understanding of common diseases from multiple sclerosis to dementia. Currently, there is no non-invasive method to track the clearance of brain metabolites by the glymphatic system and thus link preclinical research with clinical research in this area. This work is the first time a non-invasive imaging method, applicable to both animals and humans, will measure brain metabolite clearance by the glymphatic system in real time.
