The Fanny Gunnarsson Quartet is a Malmo band, whose personal and thoughtful texts link jazz and pop. Since the start in 2013 the band has released one record, “Same Eyes as You”, produced by the Swedish pianist Jan Lundgren. The record was well received among critics. Now it’s time for number two. Malmö-based Havtorn Records is meant to act as the record company and the recording will be made at Sunnanå Studios. The new music is composed for the Fanny Gunnarsson Quartet. Original music is a great way to renew a genre, in this case the jazz genre. This is done by drawing on influences from pop, film music and classical music with much experimentation.
